Happy 15th post. Happy happy. Its like 5 hours after RV's last combine with mr. toh. and it was quite productive in a sense. we managed to quickly run through all the songs, even though we didnt do much on eben and pokpok. but overall i think it was quite good. and mr. toh's flying off now. whee!!! after choir, we had this very special get-together event in each section. it was nice in the sense that we each reflected about the two most people we wanna thank or apreciate using sweets!!! everyone took turns and in the end we still got back two sweets each!! whee!! the second part involved everyone by writing a persoanl message to everyone else in the section. how touching. i still feel a little sad now. well. the last sectionals has ended b4 we fly off to vienna. it was very memorable to have even sung together in Rj LT4. touching. wish Raffles Voices luck with our competition!! gd luck RV!!! now, after every post, i shall end of with a quote. "Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success." - Henry Ford HIHI. Good morning everyone. Now its like 8 am in te morning, and im at the com!! yay!!! Well, its the second last day before we fly off. the last sectionals. the last combine. wow. Well, choir practice yesterday wasnt so good either. However, some amusing stuff did happen as usual. A quote from Aristotle about Excellence. "Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. " This quote was introduced by us from our conductor. Inspiring eh? And also. A new quote from our conductor about internalisation. as in internalising all the stuff we have learnt. "Internalisation is doing what we need to do, and not knowing what we need to do. That is internalisation." quote quote. Well. its the 28th of nov. the last practice. wish me luck. haiz.. Wha.... as of the 23th of November, 10:12:02 AM, we have 6 days left before we depart for Vienna. Haizz.. Practice again yesterday. We quickly ran through most of the songs, and found out that we have improved somewhat...or maybe a lot. But a lot of stuff happened yesterday. And now, i dont really think we can achieve a gold yet. And our conductor mentioned something new yesterday. He said: mr toh: "do you guys know, for every practice you have a different top chart list?" choir: "hmm.. yah.." and i agree. yesterday was one of those days when we werent performing well in magnum. we either went sharp, or flat, or out of tune. dam. thats really sad. as our conductor said b4, the first two songs, eben and magnum, were to help us impress the judges that we were really pro. but that didnt seem the case yesterday. ahh.. 6 days left... and our subject combos are out!! phy, chem, hist, and mep. how weird is that. but thats my first choice. i was kinda shock when i noe that i got my first choice. but one thing sad is, the sec 2s in rv cannot know our class allocations for next year cos its the morning we fly off in. unless the school posts it earlier like one day. 6 days, 3 more practice sessions. many more sectionals. and i havent even packed yet.. seesh.. Ok. so with the previous post, now i shall continue to rant on about my current life. Its now two weeks into the school hols, and practice is getting ever more intensive. Its 10 days left before the night we fly of to Vienna, when on the second day our competition starts. Do you know how worrying that is? i mean, at lower than 0 degrees, and to sing when we have not even gotten used to that climate, how bad can it get. this is a simple scenario to show how badly we can get affected. rv is at rj's lt4, and we just finished singing eben once through. everyone is waiting for our conductor to comment on how we sounded. mr. toh: this song is so much better than o magnum. can anyone tell me why this song is so much better? gabriel? gabriel: erm.. maybe because we are more warmed up?? (true, cos the aircon was off at that time. but obviously thats not true cos we spent much more time on this song that magnum.) so.. after some time... mr. toh: in case you ppl havent realised, the air con is off. do you think that is why you sound better, because the air con is off?? if thats so, then how are all of you going to perform on competition day? choir: ..... mr. toh: so how? are you all going to sing with heat packs somewhere near you vocal cords?? choir: ............ that was just to show how drastic the temperature of the surrounding can affect us in the way we sing. dam. then we're dead cos we surely never going to be warmed up on competition day. (it was true. then we really need to do something about warming on that day.) that was just one of our troubles... more are arising... 10 days left.. thats not a lot of time guys.. BUCK UP!! Hmmsss.. my 2nd part of dedications to all the teachers who have taught 1j 05 and 2j 06. Maths Mr Mustafa. Yep. He was our one and only one teacher to have ever taught us Maths. And hes also our FT for 2 years too... Poor Mr mustafa. Having to bear with a class like ours can really be a burden sometimes. Our class can get really naughty and evil at times, especially when members of the class create havoc for the FTs. He is a super good maths teacher, a pity he is leaving RI next year. Well, i guess our class didnt make his last two years in RI so wonderful after all, as i have mentioned all the stuff previously. However, due to his wonderful teaching skills in maths, our class was able to absorb and understand the topics very very quickly. and understand it too. For example, how many of your teachers ever explained each step to any formula carefully to make sure you understand it? hm? Well, to conclude, he is really a very great teacher. A personal message to mr. mustafa if you ever read this sir. Dear Mr. Mustafa, You have been a very great form teacher for our class, and also a very great maths teacher to our class too. Thank you for defending our class when some of us got into serious trouble such as the incident when jingxian's book got thrown into the bin last year. As a member of the class, i sincerely thank you for how and what you have helped our class with, and thank you for believing in us at those times when other teachers didnt. (No offence intended). I also want to thank you for how you have taught our class Maths and also how you clearly explained everything. We will never be able to express how much we want to thank you. Your sincerely, author of this blog. yep. thats it. Hihi. today is the 15th of november. 14 days left to our trip to czech and slovakia. Its been a rather sad day today during choir. But first let me tell you what exactly happened. 9.30 to 11 - Sectionals, it was quite good, since we managed to do all the songs without any major disturbances or distractions from Joshua or Mark, or even WenJun. LOL. Gd job, keep it up guys. 11 - 12 - Lunch Break, me and ian went our to eat and then came back before 12. Mr Toh arrived b4 12, and he heard some stuff from geoffrey and yishu that he would not have heard if he came later. Dam. that was the first sign of a very bad combine ahead. yisheng, louis, mingshu, mark, daniel and ben also came late for combine. dam. second sign that combine wasnt going to be good. 12 - 2 - We did pokpok, the gift and magnum. mr. toh invited his friend to listen to us, and for those three songs we didnt screw up so badly. there might be other reasons too i guess. following that we took five and carried on. 2 - 4.45 - We did eben. yes. only eben. dam. that was our worst song ever. at the stage we are going right now, i guess we can only get a bronze from the response we all got today. most people said that we were only at 50, 60 percent. thats like bronze.. mmm.. the next two weeks is going to be hard. nah... shant post anymore, or i might get into trouble.. sshh.. just need to buck up, and revise more for each song. sian..its going to be daily practices from now on.... zzz....dam dam.. haizzz....ssss.. Haaazz..my dedications are not finished yet. But now, lets contuinue to thank the teachers who have taught us over the past 2 years, especially those that walked out of our class because we were too noisy...sigh.. Firstly, this will come in four parts. 1. Languages 2. Math & Science 3. Humanities 4. Micellaneous Following for all the teachers that fall under each category. Yep. Thats it basically. Part 1 . Languages English For English, we had 2 teachers for Sec 1 and 3 teachers in Sec 2. 1. Ms Chim - a very nice teacher, our very first teacher who taught us English. She was also FT2 for 1J 2005, and left us after the first half of the year to continue pursuing her studies. And is still now studying. She helped us to solve some major problems in our class, such as when JingXian was still very violent, etc. She basically taught us about short stories such as, FFA, The Lottery and Scarlet Ibis. 2. Ms. Yong - the second teacher we had for our first year in RI. She became our second FT2 for the year. She mainly taught us Animal Farm, our first lit text, and yah. We also got to watch the movie!!! Whee. Still teaching in RI, and therefore she was one of the 5 teachers that stayed in to teach the later batches. 3. Mr. Tan - Our very first teacher in Sec 2, and mainly taught us about To Kill A MockingBird. That was our lit text for Sec 2, and he left at Term 1 cos he had other family matters to take care of. He was very strict but later when we got to know each other better, things became less tense, and also more relaxed, particualrly after what happened to Kaiyu. 4. Mr. Ong - Our second teacher in Sec 2, an old boy of RI too who also needed to continue pursuing his studies after teaching for a term. He continued teaching TKMB, and thus that was when we really got to know the text better cos he knew the text as he studied it before. We had some unpleasant experiences when our class was not so quiet, but he was still a very nice teacher. 5. Ms. Kong - Our very last teacher for Sec 2, who was mainly in charge of helping us to buck up in English, due to the change of teachers that happened to our class. She is a very nice, but strict teacher, and we also had to get her to shout once or twice cos of our noise lvl. sigh. She helped out our class for the Interclass Drama Challenge, thus we managed to achieve a Silver even though our class didnt have so much practice time. She is most likely going to stay on as a permanent teacher, most likely.. zzz.. P.s. The English Department in RI is the only department that ever had teacher changes like these. I wonder why. Chinese. Basically for Chinese, we had two teachers, but a different teacher for each year. 1. Mdm Low - She is one of the nicest and kindest teachers that our class has ever encountered. However, due to some unforeseen circumstance our class didnt really like her, thus we did not get very much our of her teaching. However, she was a little strict with our class, because of action and reaction, i dont think she really liked our class very much at the end of the year, however i still heard that she was really kind to the other classes. Still teaching in RI, and even taught the Sec 4s this year!! 2. Ms. Lim - Our FT 2 for Sec 2, a very strict teacher with us, but however puts up with our class really well. As an FT, i could see that she was really pissed at our class once in a while, especially during the last few weeks of school right b4 the CT. The look on her face, as though that she was trying her hardest not to burst out to scold our class. It was scary. But she did let in out once in a while, by screaming at people not paying attention in our class like JingXian. As a Chinese Teacher, she also tried to get people in our class to be more active to participate in Chinese talks or camps. sigh. Our class in a very sad class, in the sense that we did not cherish our teachers very much. watch out for the next post. The last part of my dedications to my friends/classmates. SHAWN - This guy is very quiet, and he is also the proest guitar player in our class, cos he is in guitar ensemble. (ensemble again!) He is also very proded at chess, one of the two best players in our class other than hougrui. And he is also in chess club!! Chess in fun. Start playing it. ALASTAIR - Avid-chess player. THis guy is a very nice guy, except that he has some bad habits at the start of the two years when he first came into RI. But, he has changed and is now a very 'guai' kid who doesnt have much bad habits with the help of his classmates over tha past twoo years. P.s. this guy cant whistle. JUNLIN - Funny dude, as in he cant stop laughing, or he laughs very, very randomly. This guy as said, is very cute, and cannot stop laughing, no matter how or what. He also loves to tickle ppl, and also target those who are ticklish. zzzz. Very happy-go-lucky. Sigh. We all wish we were like him. He is also in air rifle, or shooting, but i dont think he has been very dedicated to his cca, are you jl? do u pwn practice or training? KEVIN - Didnt get to know you very well, so shant talk much about it, but the only thing i noe is that, he loves beating jeremy at grades. Also, he is the best shooter and the one that doesnt pwn cca among the four ppl in our class. IAN - Very comical guy, Comic artist. Fellow chorister. And also random speaker. This guy is my pal in RV, the one and only one in my class who is in RV, and hes in bass!! He has also a longer history of being with our conductor than anyone else i have known so far, for being in his primary school choir too. He also loves comics, especially MEGAMAN!! Whee. Its quite fun that game, go try it out on VBA. However, he speaks up rather randomly in class, due to his avid hearing skills while he is drawing. Amazing. He can put his head down and draw and listen to the teacher at the same time. Thats pro-ded. It takes years of practice to be able to do that. 25/25 Whee!!!Finally finished. I gonna miss my 2j classmates and those times we had chasing teachers out of that classroom. Even though our class did not get much from the teachers for wasting time talking too much and crapping about, we still had a very fun time in Ri together for two years. 2J 2006 NO MORE!...*sigh* Hehe.. my fourth part to my dedications to my classmates. I noe its the school hols already and im a bit the lag, but nevertheless im still working on it. DAVID - Rugger. DotArd. Yep, he is one of the other players in our class in the school rugby team and also a dotA player. Nothing much to say, and shan't say too much. LUMPY - RISEr. Violinist. Mugger. Fuglet. Four basic words to describe him. He is in our school string emsemble, the reason why they still call it an emsemble is because it WAS an emsemble. And he plays the violin! WOW. the only guy in our class that plays the violin and is actually grde 8 or above liao. Cant remember. He is also muggish for the high gpa he gets and the way he tries to compete with zhaokai to know who knows more about chemistry. AND the main reason he is called a fuglet, in case u cant get it, was a word invented by zhaokai that can only be used on lumpy. dont ask me why. JINGXIAN - SHOOTer. DOTArd. CHinese- hater. Three words to describe him, i think by now you will quite understand what they mean. they basically mean he is in the shooting club, a dotA player and hates chinese. Simple enough? However, jingxian is famous for his notorious behaviours in the past two years. Though he has matured over the last few months of sec 2, (i think), he hasnt gotten himself into a lot of trouble, which is good. HOWEVER, THIS GUY IS VIOLENT, SO BEWARE. but the ppl he fights always wins him, but he is the one getting punished. BUt i am sure jingxian has also learnt to control his temper, right jingxian? SEAN - Asst.Monitor for 2J. X-countryer. DotArd. ( A noob one) . Yuep, this guy has been our assistant monitor for the last one year, and thank you sean for being so noble as to accept the position in January. BUt however, the only credit he gets is collecting our health booklets! (nono just JOKING, SERIOUSLY). He is the one and only X-countryer in our class, so he totally pwned at 2.4km, and seriously, he pwn everyone so badly i think he did like under 10 minutes. Dam. HE also plays dota, and is constantly trying to improve himself. =D JEREMY - Muggish. MAths-CLUBer. Mugger. This guys totally owns you at maths, not really, but he is just in maths club. He is also a serious mugger, seriously. No comments. -- 20/25 Hihi, this is my first un-dedication blog post to this blog other so far. Choir trip is coming near the end of the year, and we're flying off in about another 22 days. Time is short, and we are only at 60 percent of our best now. sian.. Its 1, 3, 5 practice every week, and my hroat is starting to feel tired since ive been singing out loud so far for the past few practices. The school is also completed phase 2 of construction, and the new entrance by the old hall can now be accessed by students and teachers, and also a new carpark with many many parking lots. The new basketball and tennis courts are also ready. The hall is also nearly finished, i guessed. Progress seems quite gd. Nah... shant talk too much, need to go rest now even though its only about 8 plus pm. I blog tomorrow to finish up of my last few dedications to the rest of my class and my previous life in RI so far... Third part of my dedications to my classmates of RI for my first two years. Its been two days into the hols now and im beginning to feel sian.... i mean, what else can u do other than play com games...? CLARENCE - Very not-nice guy, DotArd, school-poner. Surprisingly, this guy is the one who skips school the most times. Has a history of appendicitis, and his case was quite bad because he left all the food floating about in his body for quite a while, thus he frequently skips school to 'rest'. Since he pons school most of the time, he resorts to DotAing and thus he bacame quite pro at it. Also very sarcastic and frequently very vulgar. No comments. =P JIANXIONG - Very pro-ded dude. Prefect. Ex-asst-monitor. Well as you can see from my other friends' blog, you could deduce that this guy is quite proded in the sense that he was the only guy to have made it prefect in our class in the first year in RI. He also scores and aces without mugging, as you can tell how pro that is, no need to study still can score. He denys mugging and claims he got no time to mug. He is also quite pro in chinese and into history of china and jinyong books. Congrats for being ourvery first class prefect, and thanks for the first year of being 1J's asst monitor. =D WEIXIANG - Zzzz... Nothing much to say about this guy, except he scores very well for tests and has the potential to score. Even though he often gets into trouble, like once in history lesson, he is still able to make others in the class laugh, especially Junlin. Npcc also, and is also one of the more committed ones to his cca. Cheers. RENJIE - Hmm..Nothing much to say about renjie, except that he is exceptionally quiet and also loves to bite his finger nails still. (sry renjie) It is a very bad habit to bite finger nails especially in secondary school, thus thomas very frequently reminds him not too. He is one of the few who know how to play international, chinese chess and weiqi, and can still get very gd at it. Not a very muggy person, but he pwns me in dota even though i havent played him yet. (shh). :) ZHAOKAI - Ultiproded dude. Cellist. This guys is uber pro, and i mean uber pro in academics. I mean, which other guy in our class gets offered RA for 5 out of 7 subjects. (correct me if im wrong, maybe it was 6.) He gets an overall GPA of 3.94, which owns u because only his english not cao-pro. He is also in string ensemble and is quite gd in playing the cello, and thus he is also muscially talented sinc ehe can play the cello well. He also plays chess, (in fact quite a no. of ppl in our class do its just that i never bother to say who. ) but isnt very gd at it. Also likes to bully the short ppl in our class especially a certain sum1. (i wont say who). =D Gd luck for your future academies zk. =D 15/25 Second part of my dedications to my classmates of RI for my first two years. LUWEI - Very nice guy, very athletic. He is the only one in our class known for his sprinting and rugbying, and also for his very "blur" behaviour. (For more information please link to my friends blog on the right hand side.) But however, he is lazy and refuses to put in effort to work for a higher GPA. Also very committed to our house, and also a prefect elect! Luwei, wish u luck in your future RI life and also that since now youre a prefect, you will have to take up more responsibilities. Good Luck! KENNETH - DotArd. Chinese-hater. Geog-hater. Passionate-reader. Yep, these are the four terms i can use to describe this guy. He is quite proded in dotA, hates geog and chinese since he cant get 4.0, and also he reads widely, and i mean even during lessons too. I mean, there is actually nothing wrong by reading in class, but this guy has his reasons, and also when he does in during the subjects he dislikes, you cant blame him. oh, other that geog and chinese, he does very well in other subjects, but however he refuses to put in more effort for chinese and geog. *hint, hint*. KAIYU - Pro-waterpolo-player. DotArd. Sleepy. A very pro water polo player since he is the only one in our class in water polo anyway, however he did get pwned once at his own game during one period of PE a few weeks back. He also plays dotA, quite pro. AND, he is frequently very sleepy, especially during the lessons when Kenneth is reading his books, Kaiyu happens to be very sleepy, or otherwise watching out for what kenneth is doing. Strange. These 2 ppl always sabo each other, and they deny mugging too. Oh, he is also our ex-treasurer, so credit goes to him doing the tough job of collecting money in our class for the first year. Talk about collecting class funds. Pftt.... LENNARD - Soccer-pro. Handphone-game-addict. Too-much-self-praise. LOL. This guy is very sporty, especially in soccer where he is goalkepper for our class for interclass soccer. He is also addicted to hand phones and seems to be able to get any thing he needs when it comes to phones. However, this guy is proded in the sense that he rocked in his GPA, Jap 1.2!! omg... thats like below 40 for japanese. This is a real warning to all sec ones out there. Do not take 3rd lang unless u r really passionate about it. But, i had to admit this guy could really take it when he saw it on his APR. zz... YUANSHEN - Nothing much to say about this guy, except that he is quite lazy. He scored 280 for PSLE!! omg!!! how proded is that, but however he is just too lazy to buck up any of his results. sigh... He is also game-addictive and has played much more games than me, so credit goes to him for that. 10/25 |
